| Music in our church plays an important and integral part in worship.
We presently have choirs for these ages: |
Gospel (12 years of age and up)
Sanctuary Choir (high school juniors and up).
|
| The gospel choir performs occasionally during the program year in the
worship service, and the adult choir
sings regularly on Sunday mornings. The gospel group meets Thursdays
evenings from 7 PM till 7:30 PM in the sanctuary throughout the program
year. The Sanctuary choir rehearses Thursday evenings from 7:30 PM till
9 PM in the choir room. |
| Several special music programs are presented each year, including
presentations at Christmas and Easter. |
| We have also enjoyed presenting choral exchanges and pops
concerts. |
| The organ is an important support for
almost all our music, and Sunday preludes and postludes are an
opportunity to explore the capabilities of this tracker (mechanical
action) instrument. |
| Our choral music is often augmented by instrumentalists from within
the SUMC community and from outside. We are fortunate to have skilled
brass, string, and wind players among us. We are regularly joined by
groups like the Trinity Brass, a brass quartet based in Bolton, Mass.
If you are interested in
participating in service music, please contact the music directors and let us try
to find an occasion that works for you. |
| A concert series, the SUMC Music Connexion, showcases SUMC members and
friends who are talented musicians for whom there may not be sufficient
moments to share their talents in worship services. |
