But just as you
excel in everything – in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete
earnestness and in your love for us – see that you also excel in this
grace of giving. - II Corinthians 8:7
The United
Methodist Church espouses a “deepening commitment to personal and
corporate Christian stewardship, which includes the use and sharing of
talents and resources and the practice of a Christian lifestyle.”
Annual
Giving
Every October,
members are asked to prayerfully consider their level of giving for the
new calendar year. Pledge fulfillment is accepted in various ways,
including weekly collection plate donations, one-time payments and soon,
electronic giving. Additionally, stock may be transferred to the church
to fulfill a pledge. Contact the church office to arrange electronic
giving or to obtain information on transferring stock to the Church.
Special
Campaigns
Contributions to
capital campaigns can be made in the same ways mentioned above for
annual giving; be sure to denote capital campaign on the memo line of
your check.
Endowments
Some donors
prefer behind-the-scenes designated giving. Read more about how gifts,
bequests and memorials can be used to support SUMC.
