Rev. Joel B. Guillemette
Joel
has been our senior pastor since July 2006.
Three pastoral appointments in Silk Hope, NC; Bath, ME; and
Concord, NH, preceded his coming to Sudbury UMC.
As a member of the New England Conference, most of Joel’s
service has been in the areas of clergy recruitment,
development, and credentialing. In Maine and New Hampshire, he
served as a mentor to local pastors in their first years of
ministry. In New Hampshire, he was a member of the District
Committee on Ordained Ministry. And for ten years, Joel served
on the New England Conference Board of Ordained Ministry,
leading the Board as one of its two co-chairpersons from 2000 to
2004. Since 2005, he has directed the conference’s licensing
school for new local pastors.
In Sudbury, Joel serves as a trustee on the Town’s Housing Trust
where he advocates for affordable housing in an area where
professionals like teachers, police officers, fire fighters, and
religious staffers often find housing costs prohibitive. Joel
also participates regularly in the meetings and programs of
Sudbury’s monthly roundtable for religious professionals.
Joel is a graduate of Gordon College in Wenham, MA, and the
Divinity School at Duke University in Durham, NC. He and his
spouse, Wendy, married in 1977 and have been blessed by God with
two daughters, two sons-in-law, and five grandchildren. |
