Rob Hammerton
Santuary Choir Director


Rob Hammerton is Sanctuary Choir Director at Sudbury (MA) United Methodist Church. In addition, he is Director of Athletic Bands at the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA, and teaches music at Uxbridge (MA) High School, where he conducts the UHS Chorus, Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble.

Previously, he taught music at North Reading (MA) High School. From 1995 to 1998 he served as Assistant Director of Boston University Athletic Bands and Assistant Conductor of the BU Concert Band. From 1988 to 2000, he served as music director of "The Waylers" community a cappella singers (Wayland, MA).

He holds a Master of Music degree in Music Education from Boston University, and also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalistic Studies from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

He also has arranged for a wide range of instrumental and choral ensembles, from scholastic levels through collegiate and community bands and choirs.

He is primary arranger for the University of Delaware Fightin' Blue Hen Marching Band, and has written for the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Bands. His arrangements have been performed at the 1993 and 2002 Bands of America Grand National Marching Band Championships, the 2003 Bands of America Regional Championships, and the 1996 NCAA men's basketball Final Four. They have been heard on ABC, CBS, Fox SportsNet, ESPN and ESPN2 national television broadcasts.

He is an instructor with the George N. Parks Drum Major Academy; in 1998 he was inducted into the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society, and is an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma, the national collegiate band service fraternity and sorority.
